BS6 Honda CB Shine 125 SP to get 0.5hp more

The CB Shine 125 SP will be the next motorcycle in Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India’s line-up to be upgraded to conform to BS6 emission norms. A leaked certification document reveals the new power figures as well as the fact that Honda’s updated 125cc commuter will be bigger in terms of dimensions.

The same 124.73cc, air-cooled, single cylinder engine has been upgraded to BS6-spec, which has seen the power figure rise from 10.31hp 10.88hp. While the hike in power is marginal, the BS6 CB Shine features electronic fuel injection which should translate to crisp and smooth throttle response. The engine is paired to a 5-speed transmission.

Besides the BS6 upgrades, the document also states a slight increase in the dimensions of the CB Shine SP. The overall length of the motorcycle has increased by 13mm to 2,020mm while the width has gone up to 785mm. The new CB Shine is also a tad taller, at 1,103mm while the wheelbase too has increased by 19mm, at 1,285mm. We could see a marginal increase in weight as well.

The BS6 Honda CB Shine 125 SP should go on sale soon, given the company’s readiness in introducing BS6-compliant models. Honda was the first manufacturer to launch a BS6 scooter in India, when it launched the Activa 125 Fi BS6, starting at Rs 67,490. Expect the BS6 Honda CB Shine to be priced at a small premium over the current CB Shine SP.
