Apple Maps launches turn-by-turn navigation in India

While the Apple Maps app has been available in India since 2012, it lacked the turn-by-turn navigation feature. Now, iOS users in the country will be able to use the navigation feature on their phones.

The navigation feature works in the same manner as Google Maps’ navigation – enter an address and get real-time directions with traffic updates.

Along with turn-by-turn navigation, Apple Maps now also has an integrated cab service function. The app shows rides from taxi services such as Ola and Uber with their fares listed – a feature that's been seen on Google Maps for some time, now.

Features that have yet to appear in the Apple Maps app for India include local transport details (using a bus or a train) and the Flyover feature, which displays a 3D view of the selected area.

It still remains to be seen how many people will trust the Apple Maps’ navigation over its competitors, considering it was panned for being inaccurate, around the world. However, the news will be welcome for those whose cars’ infotainment systems only have Apple CarPlay support as standard.
