Tata Motors has confirmed in its latest teaser that the BS6-compliant Harrier, set to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2020, will get a power upgrade too. The 2.0-litre Kryotec engine will make 170hp in BS6 spec, up from the current BS4 version's 140hp. The 170hp derivative of the 2.0-litre diesel engine that will also be offered in its larger sibling, the Gravitas.
The BS6-spec Tata will also see the much-awaited addition of an automatic transmission option. The automatic transmission will be a 6-speed unit from Hyundai. While Tata is set to showcase the Harrier diesel-auto in a new fully-loaded trim, the carmaker has also confirmed that the engine-gearbox will be available in a choice of three trim levels. The diesel automatic Harrier will be available in mid-level XMA, XZA and fully loaded XZA+ - the XZ+ variants being new top trim level – along with confirming that the XZ+ trims will get a panoramic sunroof. The new fully-loaded variant is also set to receive larger 18-inch alloy wheels as compared to the current SUV’s 17-inch alloys available on the XZ trim.
Tata is set to showcase a wide range of its products at the Auto Expo including the Harrier’s larger seven-seat sibling, the Gravitas, and the brand’s all-new micro-SUV based on the H2X concept that debuted last year. The Harrier sits in the heavily contested mid-size SUV segment and rivals the Hyundai Creta – Hyundai is set to reveal the second-gen SUV at the Expo as well, MG Hector, Kia Seltos, Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks.
