Red Bull’s 2020 F1 racer revealed with minimal changes

With just days to go before 2020 F1 pre-season testing kicks off on February 19, F1’s launch season is in full swing and Red Bull Racing is the latest team to unveil its new challenger. On the surface, the RB16 sports minimal changes compared to its 2019 predecessor – a trend expected to reflect across the rest of the grid too, since this year’s regulations remain relatively unchanged. However, a closer look reveals some subtle changes, including a new nose design.

Unlike previous years, where Red Bull’s cars have initially been revealed with camouflage or one-off livery, the RB16 sports the team’s traditional livery. The RB16 is Red Bull’s second Honda-powered car and it will run its first laps today during a filming day at Silverstone.

Last year’s RB15 drove Max Verstappen to three race wins – in Austria, Germany and Brazil. However, with the switch to V6 engines, Red Bull has typically struggled at the start of the season, then found its footing as the season progresses. The team is going to have to deliver a strong package from the very beginning of the season if it wants to secure its first F1 championship win since 2013.

Max Verstappen will continue leading the charge for Red Bull, having signed a contract extension that will see him remain with the team until at least the end of 2023. Alexander Albon will also continue alongside him, following an impressive F1 debut last year.
