Nissan compact SUV to get connected vehicle tech

Nissan India has released a second teaser for its upcoming compact SUV (codename: EM2). With this teaser, the company has revealed the model’s LED-equipped tail-light design and has also confirmed the inclusion of connected vehicle tech – a first for any Nissan model in India. The company had released the first teaser of the compact SUV a few days ago, showcasing its overall silhouette along with its crossover-ish design.

The new Nissan compact SUV will be based on the Renault-Nissan CMF-A architecture that underpins the popular Renault Triber, and will see also do duty in the upcoming Renault HBC compact SUV.

Powering the EM2 compact SUV will be a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine (codename: HR10), mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Nissan has no plans to offer a diesel option in the line-up.

Nissan has been late to enter the ever-growing Indian compact SUV segment and to introduce connected car tech, a feature that's already offered in many of its rivals.

Upon its launch around September this year, the new Nissan compact SUV will rival the recently updated Tata Nexon, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza petrol, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, and the Ford EcoSport.
