Made-in-India Maruti Suzuki S-Presso exports begin

Launched in September 2019, Maruti Suzuki has commenced exports of its made-in-India S-Presso entry-level hatchback, which is positioned as a UV for its crossover-inspired styling.

Country's largest carmaker today announced that it has begun shipments of the car to Latin America, South Africa and the Asian region – all left-hand-drive markets. The consignments are being despatched from the Mundra port, located on the northern shores of the Kutch district in Gujarat.

The S-Presso, which has been positioned as a direct rival to the Renault Kwid in India, plays in the mini segment within the passenger vehicle space, with attributes of an SUV such as a high ground clearance and a boxy design. The car went on to enter the Top 10 PVs list, right after its launch in the month of September last year, going home to 5,006 buyers in its maiden month.

Maruti Suzuki saw sales doubling in October, with 10,634 units getting sold in the month. The company has sold over 35,000 units so far in the country, with the city car wooing buyers by its space, modern features and the availability of AMT options on its top two trims.

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso comes with a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre, three-cylinder K10 petrol engine claiming 21.7kpl (ARAI) and mated to a 5-speed manual or an AMT. The car is offered in six colour options.
