As part of the usual year-end stock clearance exercise, Tata dealers have been authorised to offer significant benefits and discounts on the Tiago hatchback, Tigor compact sedan and Nexon compact SUV. Including cash discounts, an exchange bonus and other benefits, potential buyers could save up to Rs 1 lakh on their new Tata car or SUV this month, depending on the model and variant in question.
Tata Tigor
Save up to Rs 1 lakh
Tata’s compact sedan is quite a competent car – it punches above its weight class, boasting an excellent value for money and comfort. However, the 85hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine isn’t very efficient; while the 70hp, 1.05-litre diesel unit is unexciting. The benefits and discounts available this month on all variants means that the Tata Tigor increases its VFM quotient, making it a more attractive buy in a segment that’s currently dominated by the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. There’s a Tigor facelift in the works that is expected to arrive before April 2020 with a sole BS6-compliant petrol engine; it’s likely that this is the same 86hp, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder unit that powers the Tata Altroz. The diesel engine will be phased out by the automaker.
Tata Nexon
Save up to Rs 95,000
Touted as the most affordable car in India with a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating, the Tata Nexon faces stiff competition from the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport. Tata’s compact SUV makes a case for itself by being one of the best-looking models out there and offering great ride quality. Between the two engine options – both come with manual and AMT gearboxes – the 110hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine is our pick, rather than the underwhelming 110hp, 1.2-litre petrol. The comparatively inexpensive Nexon has an even better value this month, with dealers offering up to Rs 95,000 in benefits and discounts.
Tata Tiago
Save up to Rs 90,000
Like its compact-sedan counterpart, the Tata Tiago is going to get a facelift soon that will come with a tweaked design, a BS6-compliant version of the current 85hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine and lacks a diesel unit. It's a product that already offers great value for money, especially if one considers its relatively upmarket cabin and a driving experience, which make the car feel like it’s from a segment above. The benefits available in December make the Tiago an even more attractive buy.
