Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz petrol mild-hybrid recalled

Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall for select units of the petrol mild-hybrid Ertiga, XL6 and Ciaz over a possible defect with the Motor Generator Unit (MGU) manufactured by an overseas global parts supplier. The recall affects 63,493 units of the models mentioned.

Maruti Suzuki says it will recall the vehicles for inspection; those found to be unaffected will be released immediately. Vehicles with the faulty part will be retained, and a replacement of the part will be carried out free of cost. Keeping in mind customer convenience, Maruti Suzuki dealers may make alternate mobility arrangements in such cases, if required.

All three cars use the same naturally aspired 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a two-battery mild-hybrid system capable of providing a small electrical boost during acceleration.

While owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by dealers, customers can also check if their cars are affected on Maruti's website under the Important Customer Information tab.
