BS6-compliant Toyota Yaris to be priced from Rs 8.76 lakh

Ahead of the April 2020 deadline, Toyota has started rolling out BS6-compliant versions of the Yaris, with prices starting at Rs 8.76 lakh. The sedan will continue to be offered in seven trim levels, with two engine-gearbox combinations. Given below are the variant-wise prices.

Toyota Yaris BS6 variant-wise prices (ex-showroom)

As mentioned by us previously, despite its switch to BS6, the Yaris’ 1.5-litre petrol engine continues to put out an unchanged 107hp. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-step CVT automatic. The BS4 Yaris returns 17.1kpl and 17.8kpl for the manual and automatic, respectively, but figures for the BS6-compliant Yaris have not yet been revealed.

The top-spec Yaris VX gets features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen, cruise control, auto projector headlamps with LED DRLs, diamond-cut alloys, leatherette upholstery, power adjustable driver’s seat, hill-start assist, ESC, paddleshifters (CVT only), and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Standard safety kit includes seven airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors.

In terms of the competition, the Toyota Yaris rivals the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento. From this list, it’s only the City that comes with a BS6-compliant petrol engine at present.
