MG Motor India dispatches 3,536 Hector SUVs in October 2019

MG Motor India has announced that it has dispatched 3,586 units of Hector SUV from its Halol plant. This is the highest number of units of the SUV dispatched by the company to its dealers since production of the Hector began, earlier this year.

The 3,536-unit dispatch figure is in line with our prediction last night about the brand dispatching more than 3,000 units of the Hector SUV last month. The company recently ramped up production at its Halol plant in Gujarat with a second shift for some departments and will gradually introduce this to all its departments to facilitate an increased monthly unit production.

The company has already gathered around 10,000 bookings of the Hector SUV in the phase two, which commenced in September. The total number of bookings for the model currently hover around the 38,000 mark.

The MG Hector is available with multiple engine-gearbox options, including a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with a 48V mild-hybrid, and a 2.0-litre diesel. A major chunk of bookings have been for the 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid variant. Kia’s Seltos engine available engine options comprise a 1.5-litre petrol or diesel, and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine. The company has announced that nearly half its orders are for the 1.5-litre diesel engine model, while about 30 percent accounting for the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, and the remaining about 20 percent for the 1.5-litre petrol.

The company is currently readying BS6-compliant petrol and diesel versions of the Hector SUV however these will hit the market only next year. Additionally, a six-seater derivative is also in the works which will also see minor cosmetic tweaks that differentiate it from the five-seat model.
