Ford has revealed the first set of images and details of the new Everest Sport SUV. The Ford Everest Sport is essentially based on the Endeavour SUV and sold in multiple ASEAN markets as well as Australia.
The new Everest Sport variant gets an all-black treatment to its exteriors, where all of the SUV's chrome bits are replaced by matte-black accents. Additionally, it gets an all-new grille with a mesh design instead of the familiar family grille seen on other Ford SUVs. The model also gets blacked-out alloy wheels – the same 20-inch units available on the top-spec trims.
Inside, the SUV gets black accents and minor interior tweaks in order to complete the Sport theme. It also gets unique badging up front and on the sides. The Sport trim is available on the 3.2-litre Everest in most international markets.
For India, Ford sells the Endeavour with either a 2.2-litre or a 3.2-litre diesel engine options. The SUV is available with three trim options mated to either a 6-speed manual or a torque convertor automatic, depending on the engine selected. The model sees stiff rivalry with the likes of the popular Toyota Fortuner in our market. Additionally, it also competes with the likes of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Isuzu MU-X to name a few.
There is no news of a “Sport” variant on the SUV for the Indian market. The Endeavour is expected to get a BS6 engine upgrade in the coming months. A new Sport trim could help the brand increase the SUV's appeal in the Indian market.
