Tata Motors has introduced ‘Priority test drives’ for the Harrier. This initiative has been launched in partnership with car-leasing firm Orix and will provide test drives to potential customers at their doorstep.
In order to book their priority test drive, customers will have to visit the Tata Harrier website and fill out a form, after which they will get multiple date and time options. After having selected their preference, customers will get a confirmation call from Tata Motors’ customer care team who will then help them schedule the test drive as per their time and location.
Speaking about the initiative, S N Barman, Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Customer Support, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors said, "There are many customers with busy schedules who wish for test drives at a time and place convenient to them. In order to align with our progressively digital customers we are elated to partner with Orix to let customers schedule a test drive from the comfort of their home with just a few clicks. This will give customers the freedom to select a test drive at a time and location of their choice.”
However, this service is initially available only in Mumbai and Delhi-NCR, though will soon be extended to other cities.
Owing to the industry-wide slump and newer competitors like the MG Hector and Kia Seltos, sales of the Harrier have slowed in the past few months. Tata has attempted to address this by launching a new Dark Edition of the Harrier and introducing a 5-year extended warranty package.
The Tata Harrier is set to receive a number of updates in the coming months, like a more powerful 170hp, BS6-compliant diesel engine, an automatic gearbox option and a 7-seater sibling. For now though, the SUV is available as a five-seater only and in a sole 140hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox configuration.
In terms of prices, the Tata Harrier costs from Rs 12.99 lakh for the base XE variant and goes up to Rs 16.95 lakh for the top-spec XZ Dual-Tone variant.
All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi
