Maruti Suzuki Nexa outlets sell one million cars, SUVs

Maruti Suzuki has announced that its premium Nexa outlets have retailed over one million units since the sub-brand was established. The first Nexa showroom had opened back in August 2015 in the National Capital Region, which then only sold the Ciaz midsize sedan.

Now, Maruti’s Nexa showrooms retail models like the Baleno, Ignis and S-Cross, with the most recent addition to the line-up being the XL6. Based on the number of cars sold, Maruti claims that Nexa is the third largest brand in India. During the month of August 2019, cumulative sales of all Nexa cars was 17,007 units, which amounts to about 18.25 percent of Maruti Suzuki’s total sales for the month (93,173 units) – Hyundai’s sales of 38,205 units put it squarely in second, with Mahindra following at 13,504 units sold.

Maruti also claims that nearly half of all Nexa customers are under the age of 35, which proves the premium sub-brand’s popularity with the tech-savvy youth of the nation. Besides its showrooms, the Nexa brand has also forayed into fashion (in collaboration with the International Indian Film Academy Awards and Lakme Fashion Week) and music (Nexa Music aims to create original English music mentored by A.R. Rahman).

Among other recent announcements from Maruti, besides the launch of the Renault Kwid rivaling S-Presso, the brand has also sold over two lakh BS6 vehicles in six months.
