Spy shots from Japan seem to be that of the next-gen CBR1000RR being tested on a race track. While it isn’t clear if this is a race-spec variant or a model meant for the road, we suspect it to be the former due to a few high-end components.
To begin with, the brake and suspension setup towards the front appears to be high-end, like the ones you’d find on WSBK machines. Then there are the aluminium rearsets that are unpainted. That, however, could be down to the fact that the motorcycle is still in prototype form, and the final product could have a more production-ready finish to it. The bike in the images seems to be missing other road essential equipment like turn indicators and a rear fender, which could have been taken off just for track testing.
Interestingly, the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade appears to have a huge air vent at the front similar to the one we’ve seen on Kawasaki’s Ninja ZX-10R. We believe it’ll serve a similar purpose of feeding cold air to the air intake on this bike as well. The images also appear to reveal aerodynamic sections on the side of the fairings, a conventional frame and four-cylinder engine setup, dismissing the V4 rumours.
