2019 Audi A6 launched at Rs 54.20 lakh

It’s been a bit of a wait but Audi has finally launched the latest generation of the A6 luxury sedan in our market, with prices starting from Rs 54.20 lakh. The A6 sedan is the German carmaker’s first all-new product in our market in over a year and an update to this model has been long overdue. Unlike the previous A6, which was available in a single range-topping variant and had petrol and diesel engine options, the new model is available in two variants and comes with a petrol engine only.

In terms of styling, the new A6 features Audi’s new and more aggressive design language with sharper, more squared-off looks and a larger grille up front that is flanked by angular LED headlamps with LED DRLs. The rear too has changed – there are new design LED tail-lights that are connected by a thin chrome strip. The silhouette of the new A6 remains more or less unchanged, though the model does come fitted with new 18-inch alloy wheels. It is also worth noting that the new model is larger in terms of dimensions than the outgoing A6. Audi offers a single sold exterior finish – Ibis White – along with four metallic exterior colour options – Firmament Blue, Myth Black, Seville Red and Vesuvious Grey.

The inside of the new A6 is vastly different from the outgoing model, as Audi has completely redesigned the interior layout, bringing it in line with the brand’s newer models. The top-spec A6 Technology trim gets Audi’s latest MMI system with twin-touchscreens to control infotainment and in-car functions. Also part of the package on the top-spec variant is the all-digital instrument cluster (Virtual Cockpit), a Bang & Olufsen audio system, four-zone climate control and a hands-free parking function. The A6 45TFSI Premium Plus variant features powered front seats with memory function for the driver, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, leather/leatherette upholstery and Lane Departure Warning.

Mechanically, Audi offers the new luxury sedan in just 45TFSI-spec. It is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that is good for 245hp and 370Nm of torque. The engine comes paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as standard.

The new Audi A6 faces competition in our market from the likes of the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-class and the Jaguar XF. At this price point, the A6 undercuts its petrol-powered rivals.
