Honda Activa 125 FI BS6 to be launched on September 11

Honda has just announced that it will launch its first BS6 offering – the Activa 125 FI BS6 – in India on September 11. The scooter was already showcased a couple of months ago, but we will now finally get the price, delivery details and technical specifications.

The company has said that the BS6-compliant version of the new Activa 125 FI has been developed with “as many as 26 new patent applications.” While it still uses a 125cc motor, the Activa 125 now features the company’s PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel Injection) and Honda’s Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) technology that the company claims “optimises energy output by maximising efficient combustion.”

Honda has also made changes to the engine’s inlet port shape and has even made the combustion chamber on the scooter more compact. The company also claims an increase in fuel efficiency as compared to the BS4-compliant Activa 125.

From a distance, the BS6 Activa 125 looks similar to the BS4 model, but a closer inspection reveals that it has undergone a few cosmetic changes. There are updates to the headlight, apron and the side panels. To read all about the changes, read our five things to know on the BS6 Activa.

Honda has also added many new features to its upcoming flagship scooter. The new 125 gets a “noiseless” starter system, idle stop-start, an external fuel-filler cap, a pas-light switch and a front glove box. The digital screen on the scooter also showcases real-time fuel efficiency and distance-to-empty reading.

Honda has said that the BS6 Activa will cost around 10-15 percent more than the BS4 version, which would take its expected price up to Rs 70,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), if not more. While that price tag looks quite high at the moment, we are fast heading to a time where that figure will be the norm for a 125cc scooter.
