Goodyear DuraPlus 2, Wrangler AT/ST range of tyres launched

Goodyear, which is a leading OE and aftermarket supplier in the domestic market, has launched a new range of tyres for cars and SUVs in India. Dubbed Assurance DuraPlus 2 and Wrangler AT SilentTrac, the two tyre families are touted to employ the company’s latest technologies and compounds to enhance performance. Set to be manufactured at the the American brand’s facilities in Aurangabad, the new tyres are expected to be priced close to the ones they will be replacing in the company’s line-up.

Assurance DuraPlus 2 is the brand’s latest offering meant for entry-level passenger cars and replaces the previous-gen Assurance DuraPlus tyres in India. Compared to its predecessor, Goodyear believes that their new product provides longer mileage (up to a company-claimed 1,10,000km), enhanced durability and quieter performance owing to an improved tread pattern and thicker sidewall construction.

The DuraPlus 2 family is available in nine sizes ranging from 13-inch to 15-inch rim diameters and can be used on models such as the Maruti Suzuki Alto, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Santro, Hyundai Grand i10, Datsun Go and more.

The American major’s second new product, the Wrangler AT SilentTrac (AT/ST), is aimed squarely at the burgeoning SUV market. Taking driving patterns of urban SUV buyers into consideration, the Wrangler AT/ST is touted to be suitable for 70 percent on-road and 30 percent off-road applications.

Replacing the older Wrangler AT/SA tyres, Goodyear boasts the new range to be capable of delivering a smoother drive, a better blend of on- and off-road handling and noise reduction. This has been achieved with the help of better sidewall and tread designs and the use of silica blend in the tyre compound.

The Wrangler AT/ST range comes in seven sizes from 15-inches to 17-inches. With this product, the company is targeting a variety of SUVs in the Indian market including the Mahindra Bolero, Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier, Renault Duster and Ford Endeavour, to name a few.

Goodyear, which is one of the world’s largest tyre manufacturers, is currently celebrating 120 years of existence. It first entered the Indian market in 1922 and boasts of associations with major players like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Rolls Royce, Porsche, Aston Martin and Jeep.
