All-new Hyundai Grand i10 Nios revealed

The wait for the all-new Hyundai Grand i10 is nearly over. Set for its global debut (and India launch) on August 20, the covers are off the all-new Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, which is the third-generation model in the i10 family. Hyundai says the ‘Nios’ suffix stands for ‘more’, which denotes the new Grand i10's promise of providing more to the buyer in terms of space, features and performance.

The Grand i10 Nios will co-exist with the current-gen Grand i10, and will slot in between the Grand i10 and i20 in Hyundai's line-up. Bookings for the Grand i10 Nios open today at dealerships and online for an amount of Rs 11,000.

In terms of design, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios seems to follow in the new Santro's footsteps, with shapely projector headlamps flanking the large ‘Cascading Grille', and an interesting touch is the presence of angular LED DRLs on the edges of the grille. The window line rises sharply towards the back, and the chrome door handles and dual-tone alloy wheels add some flavour to the Nios' appearance. The Grand i10 Nios retains the fairly upright, monocell shape of its predecessor, and while Hyundai hasn’t shared specifics, the Grand i10 Nios will likely be a shade bigger than the current-gen model and resultingly, will have more interior space.

What has also been revealed is the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios' interior. Sporting an ivory-grey colour scheme, the Grand i10 Nios gets an all-new dashboard, with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system taking pride of place. The touchscreen unit itself is flanked by buttons and dials, the dash and doorpads feature a dimpled, textured finish and overall, the interior appears neat and airy. Being a Grand i10, there are plenty of storage spaces – the door pockets are large, there’s a small cubbyhole above the glovebox to store odds and ends and cupholders between the front seats. And while there is no picture of the rear seats yet, expect plenty of space for those sitting at the back.

Some of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios' features are visible in the first pictures, which include steering-mounted controls, powered ORVMs, a part-digital instrument cluster and automatic climate control. Expect the Grand i10 Nios to also get an extensive list of safety equipment.

Power for the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is expected to come from a BS6-compliant version of the existing 83hp, 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine. This engine will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and a BS6-compliant version of the U2, 1.2-litre diesel will also likely be offered.
