Kia Seltos: What to expect from each variant

While much is known about the Seltos SUV already, a few key details of Kia's first model for India have not been made public as yet. Prices, of course, will be known only at the Seltos' launch on August 22, 2019. However, a leaked document has now given us the information about the variants the SUV will be sold in, and the features that each will come with. Before we proceed, it's important to recap that the Kia Seltos will come with multiple engine options for our market –a 1.5-litre petrol offered with a 6-speed manual and CVT, a 1.5-litre diesel mated to either a 6-speed manual ora 6-speed torque converter, and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol with direct injection paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. 

The leaked info, said to be from an internal training programme, suggest the Seltos will be sold in as many as eight variants. The Seltos diesel variants will start with the base HTE and go up to the HTX+ for the top spec,whilethe petrol Seltos will start with the base GTK variant and go up to the top-spec GTX+ trim. 

While details of the Seltos HTK are not yet known, we’ve got our hands on a tentative list of features and equipment for the other trims.

The Seltos will sit right in the middle of the hotly contested midsize SUV market in India,whichincludes models like the Hyundai Creta, the Mahindra XUV500, the Renault Captur, Nissan Kicks and the aggressively priced MG Hector.  Expect Kia to price the Seltos in the range of Rs 11-17 lakh (ex-showroom).
