2019 BMW 7 Series facelift launched at Rs 1.22 crore

BMW has launched the 7 Series facelift in India with prices starting at Rs 1.22 crore (ex-showroom, pan-India). As with the pre-facelift model, the updated 7 Series continues to be offered with a choice of 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.

The diesel motor is the familiar 265hp, 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder diesel engine that also does duty in a wide range of other BMWs in the country. The petrol motor offered is a 340hp, 3.0-litre six-cylinder unit. Both motors are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard.

Along side the standard petrol and diesel options, BMW is also offering a plug-in hybrid variant of the 7 Series facelift, the 745Le xDrive. The 745Le is powered by an in-line, six-cylinder petrol engine that makes 286hp and 450Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to an electric motor that makes 113hp and 265Nm of peak torque. As a combination though, the 745Le is rated at 394hp and 600Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to all-four wheels via BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system.

Rounding off the new 7 Series line-up for India is the range-topping high-performance M760Li xDrive. Powering the luxury performance limousine is a 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged V12 petrol motor good for 585hp and 850Nm of torque. Power is sent to all-four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, with BMW claiming a 0-100kph time of just 3.8 seconds.

Moving to the styling, the 7 Series facelift features a larger more prominent iteration of BMW’s kidney grille flanked by sleeker headlamps, a restyled front bumper and a raised and recontoured bonnet up front. Changes at the sides are minimal while around the back, the luxury limousine features tweaked tail-lamps and a revised bumper.

As before, higher variants of the 7 Series facelift are packed to the gills with goodies such electrically adjustable rear seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions, a tablet controller in the rear centre armrest to control in-car functions, BMW’s latest iDrive system with gesture control, BMW’s Laser Light headlamps, adaptive air suspension, multi-zone auto climate control, a panoramic sunroof, 460W Harman Kardon surround sound system, a rear seat entertainment package with individual displays and more. The list of features on the top-spec trims also includes BMW's autonomous parking system.

The updated 7 can be had in three trim levels - Design Pure Excellence (DPE), Design Pure Excellence Signature and M Sport. The 7 Series facelift rivals the likes of the Mercedes S-class, and Audi’s yet-to-launch new A8.
