Royal Enfield 650 Twins sales cross 5,168 units in 5 months

The Royal Enfield 650 Twins have been the most revolutionary offering from the manufacturer in recent times. The Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 sport Royal Enfield’s first modern twin-cylinder engine and the highly-anticipated bikes were launched back in November 2018. Now, a little over five months after, a sales report has revealed that the 650 Twins have garnered 5,168 sales in India.

This doesn’t come as a surprise considering that the bikes offer a lot at their respective price points. Prices for the Interceptor 650 start at Rs 2.5 lakh, while Interceptor 650 prices start at Rs 2.65 lakh. The RE 650 Twins are also the most affordable twin-cylinder motorcycles in the country. For reference, the Harley-Davidson Street 750, a motorcycle that’s closest to the Interceptor 650 in terms of displacement and intent, is priced at Rs 5.33 lakh.

Interestingly, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 also bagged the Bike of the Year title at the Autocar Awards 2019.

To recap, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 use an all-new 648cc, air-cooled, SOHC, fuel-injected, parallel-twin motor churning out 47hp at 7,250rpm and 52Nm of torque at 5,250rpm. The bikes may not offer much in terms of electronics or high-spec hardware, but their performance and refinement match its very aggressive price tag.

(All prices are ex-showroom, India)
