Me and My Cars: Amal Tanna

What are you driving and why?

A 1963 Fiat 600, it’s cheerful and practical, and a 1950 Ford Custom Club Coupe for touring, amongst others.

What’s next on your list?

A classic muscle car is something that’s missing from my collection. I’d love a Dodge Charger or a Plymouth Barracuda.

The most fun you’ve had in a car?

Pitting my 1959 Chevrolet Parkwood against a Jaguar XK140 on the Buddh International Circuit.

Your money-no-object dream car?

A 1930 Mercedes-Benz SSK ‘Count Trossi’, currently in Ralph Lauren’s car collection.

Who is your all-time motorsport hero?

Italian racing driver Tazio Nuvolari. For 29 years, he amazed the racing world by excelling on both two and four wheels.

Your favourite road?

The 17-Mile Drive along California’s rugged Big Sur coastline, driving past magnificent cliffs and towering redwoods.

What’s on your automotive bucket list?

The Peking to Paris Motor Challenge, most likely in my Ford Model A Sport Coupe, and driving the Route 66 in my 1947 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible.

What would you do with your last litre of fuel?

Put it in my 1921 Fiat Corsa race car and listen to the exhaust note until it lasts.

Your ideal 5-car garage?

1. A Porsche as a daily driver

2. Lamborghini Urus

3. Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster

4. Ferrari F40

5. Rolls Royce Wraith coupé.

What was your first car?

Maruti Gypsy MG410 soft-top.
