A day after details of its connectivity features were made public, the production version of the Hyundai Venue has been seen via leaked images. The images give us our clearest view yet of the Hyundai compact SUV’s styling. As was speculated, the final car does bear a strong resemblance with Hyundai’s Kona SUV, particularly at the front. The Venue sports a split headlamp design as is vogue these days while Hyundai’s cascading grille occupies prime real estate up front.
As we had reported earlier, the silhouette is similar to the larger Hyundai Creta’s. Interestingly, styling at the rear is very reminiscent of the Carlino concept SUV shown at Auto Expo 2016. The squarish tail give the SUV a fair bit of volume. Of the other things, one of the spied Venues sports the same design of diamond-cut alloy wheels as the 2019 Creta. The tailgate of the Hyundai Venue SX sports a Turbo badge, which confirms the compact will be available with the new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. A 100hp, 1.4-litre petrol and a 90hp, 1.4-litre diesel motor will also be on offer.
Images of the production Hyundai Venue’s interior also reveal a smartly-designed dashboard that positions a large, free-standing touchscreen at the top of the centre console between the centre air vents. The three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel features buttons for the audio system and cruise control system. Between the tachometer and speedometer dials is a colour MID. The image of the interior also shows that the Venue will have rake and reach adjust for the steering.
Scheduled to go on sale in India in May 2019, the Venue will maker Hyundai’s long overdue entry into the compact SUV segment. Given how feature-loaded it will be, the Hyundai Venue will likely be among pricier models in the segment.
