Jeep Compass diesel recalled for software upgrade

Jeep India has issued an official recall for its Compass diesel SUVs manufactured between December 18, 2017, to November 18, 2018. The recall has been announced to update the vehicles' PCM (Powertrain Control Module) software.
According to FCA India, "This action is to correct product variations that may cause certain vehicles to exceed the regulatory threshold for particulate matter emissions." The recall has affected 11,002 Compass diesel 2WD models, and isn't applicable to the petrol or diesel 4WD models manufactured in the same period.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by Jeep India dealers to fix up an appointment at their local authorised workshops. The company has also said that the software refresh takes around 15 minutes and is not a safety recall.

Jeep India currently sells the Compass, Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler SUVs in India. The company will introduce the rugged Compass Trailhawk variant equipped with a diesel-automatic configuration and more off-road bits in the coming months.
