Bajaj Avenger Street 180 ABS launch soon

Early in January 2019, Bajaj updated its Avenger Cruise 220 and Avenger Street 220 models with a single-channel ABS unit. And now – going by what seems like an official poster – the Avenger Street 180 is all set to be updated with a similar unit in the coming weeks. The price hike that the Avenger 220 ABS bikes see over their non-ABS variants is a little over Rs 6,700 and a similar increase can be expected on the Avenger Street 180.

It is unlikely that the bike will receive any other updates besides the safety feature. The Street 180 is powered by a 180cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 15.5hp at 8,500rpm and 13.7Nm at 6,500rpm, and is one of the most affordable motorcycles in the entry-level cruiser segment. Once equipped with ABS, the bike will take on its closest competitor – the Intruder 150 ABS (Rs 1,02 lakh, ex-showroom Pune) – on a more level playing field.

With the mandatory ABS deadline of April 1, 2019, just around the corner, the Street 180 will make its way to dealerships soon.
