Changes to the hatchback will make it more competitive against the recently launched 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R; engine options remain the same.
The Renault Kwid was launched in India in 2015 and the model was an instant hit, thanks to its SUV-like looks and a touchscreen infotainment system that was a segment-first feature at that time. The same infotainment system was also available in much more expensive models from the brand, like the Duster and the Captur. As time went by, other manufacturers caught up and started offering better infotainment systems in terms of the interface and features, like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
We reported about this development in our February 2019 issue that is already on stands.
Renault recently updated the Kwid with inclusion of a reverse camera and some more equipment, and now thanks to the upcoming government laws, all variants of the Kwid will come with standard ABS and rear parking sensors. Additionally, with this feature addition, Renault will also update the Kwid’s infotainment system and add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to make it more competitive to the likes of the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Wagon R that comes with Maruti’s new SmartPlay Studio system.
Sources tell us that Renault is expected to update all of its models with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto feature soon.
The Renault Kwid will continue to be sold with the same 800cc and 1.0-litre petrol engine options.
