New 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R bookings cross 16,000 units

The new 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R was launched last week and takes on the likes of the new Hyundai Santro. The car will be sold through the Arena range of Maruti Suzuki dealerships and according to dealers across the country, there has been a very good response to the new, mid-range, tall-boy hatchback. According to official Maruti Suzuki figures, bookings for the new Wagon R have already crossed 16,000 units. The waiting period also extends into a few weeks, depending on the variant; the 2019 Wagon R comes with 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre engine options, with manual or AMT automatic gearboxes.

The 1.0-litre K10 petrol motor has been carried forward from the last-generation Wagon R and makes 68hp, while the new 1.2-litre K12 engine – also available in the Swift and the Ignis – makes 83hp and 113Nm of peak torque. When it comes to ARAI fuel efficiency figures, the 1.0-litre Wagon R variants do 22.5kpl, while the new 1.2-litre variants go 21.5kpl.

Prices for the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 1.0-litre start at Rs 4.19 lakh for the base model while the top-spec AMT is priced at Rs 5.16 lakh. The 1.2-litre engine variants, on the other hand, are priced from Rs 4.89 lakh for the entry level variant and go all the way to Rs 5.69 lakh for the top-spec model.

The new 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R gets an all-new design language that looks much better than before. It is also larger than the older-generation model in all aspects, and is based on the new platform that it shares with the likes of the Swift, Dzire and Baleno. The new Wagon R also gets a major interior update. It comes with Maruti’s new SmartPlay Studio infotainment system and the touchscreen hardware itself is now updated and gets better touch responses, among other changes. The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R also comes with ABS, airbags and rear parking sensors as standard on all models.
