Mini Cooper John Cooper Works facelift revealed

The hottest version of the new Mini Cooper hatchback and Convertible, which get the John Cooper Works bade, have been revealed. Based on the facelift that was brought to India in May 2018, the John Cooper Works variants get more standard equipment and a more hardcore design.

The JCWs are powered by a 234hp, 2.0-litre, twin-turbocharged four-cylinder engine that propels the hatchback from 0-100kph in 6.3 seconds, while the convertible takes 6.6 seconds. It is also fitted with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox or an optional 8-speed automatic. Mini says that a new particulate filter has been integrated into the exhaust system in such a way that allows for “a characteristic sound inside and outside the vehicle.”

The refreshed range-topping Minis have all LED front and rear lights, automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers, a sports suspension, new 17-inch alloy wheels, black exterior and interior trim and leather bucket seats all fitted as part of standard equipment. The John Cooper Works version also gets a body kit that makes it stand out visually from other models in Mini’s line-up. The tail-lights also have a distinctive design that features the Union Jack.

Safety features include brake assist, a stability control system, crash sensors, ABS and cornering brake control.

There is no news regarding its arrival in India at the moment. However, our market did get the 192hp, Mini Cooper JCW Pro Edition, which had launched last year and had a limited run of 20 units. The standard Mini range retails from Rs 33.20-37.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
