Avan Motors, an Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer showcased a few e-scooters at the 2018 Electric Vehicle Expo which was held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on December 21-23, 2018. While the company only has two models on sale at the moment (Xero and Xero plus), it plans on expanding its line-up soon and may launch up to six new models in the coming year.
While not much has been revealed about these upcoming e-scooters yet, Avan has said they will be easy-to-ride, have an aerodynamic design and will be fitted with a larger battery. Avan also claims a top speed of 45kph on the new models and says that they will either be equipped with a 60V/26Ah or a 72V/32Ah lithium-ion battery, depending on the model.
These scooters will either use a 1,000W or 1,200W motor. Avan claims that these motors will make the e-scooters ‘fast and efficient’. The company is also working on reducing the price of its scooters by increasing localisation and limiting the imported components on the e-scooters to only 20 percent.
At present, the Pune-based company's current models are priced starting at Rs 55,000. Meanwhile, dealerships have been set up in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
