Lamborghini SC18 Alston is the brand’s first one-off race car

After taking the wraps off the race-spec Lamborghini Urus, the Italian supercar maker’s racing division, Squadra Corse, has revealed its first, one-off race car. Called the SC18 Alston, its design and setup draws heavily from Super Trofeo and GT3 racing.

Based on the Aventador and custom built for a customer, Lamborghini says that the SC18 paves the way for further personalised projects for motorsport customers.

While the SC18 is roadworthy, it has been created primarily for use on the track. As such, the carmaker claims that it features “extreme aerodynamics, developed specifically for this model and derived from Squadra Corse’s experience in competition.”

The front hood has air intakes similar to the Huracan GT3 Evo, while the sides and rear have fenders, fins and air scoops inspired by the Huracan Super Trofeo Evo. There is also a large carbon-fibre wing with three mechanical adjustments and 12 air intakes on the rear hood.

Although the V12 motor that makes 770hp and 720Nm of torque at 6,750rpm is shared with the recently revealed Aventador SVJ, this model might be even faster, beating the former’s 0-1900kph tiome of 2.8 seconds. However, no performance figures were revealed.

The cabin of the SC18 features carbon-fibre bucket seats with black Alcantara and red stitching. Specially developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres are wrapped around 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch rims at the rear. There’s also a telemetry system to measure track performance.

Motorsport divisions such as Squadra Corse are a growing trend in the supercar sector with rivals Ferrari and McLaren both offering similar programmes for customers.
