Mahindra will soon add a diesel-AMT variant to its KUV100 line-up for the Indian market. The company had announced that an AMT-gearbox equipped variant was in the works when it launched the facelifted KUV100 NXT in October last year.
According to PTI, the KUV100 NXT with an AMT gearbox will be introduced in the diesel variant while the petrol powered model will be continued to be sold with a 5-speed manual. Based on the report, the company is also in the process of updating the KUV100 range thus making it ready for the upcoming crash test norms that come into effect in October 2019.
The KUV100 is sold in India with an 83hp, 1.2-litre petrol and a 78hp, 1.2-litre diesel engine. Mahindra has also begun work on upgrading these engines to clear stringent BS-VI norms that come into effect in 2020.
Additionally, Mahindra has also announced that the KUV100 line-up will expand further in the future with the addition of an electric version. Mahindra had showcased the eKUV100 at the 2018 Auto Expo, which was powered by the same 30kW motor and lithium-ion battery pack as the eVerito, which is already on sale. Along with a claimed range of 140km, the model is expect to come with fast charging, with 80 percent being charged in less than an hour. At the Auto Expo, Mahindra had revealed that the eKUV100 could have an updated motor and battery pack by the time it arrives.
